Manage Our Community
We are looking for a volunteer social media editor to manage our English-language Facebook page and its community of around 180,000 followers.
World History Encyclopedia is a non-profit organization publishing the world's most-read history encyclopedia. Our mission is to engage people with cultural heritage and to improve history education worldwide.
This position is a volunteer role; you will not get paid for your work. If you can communicate well and you are able to devote at least five hours per week to this position, we’d like to hear from you.

Responsibilities
Post freshly published content from the encyclopedia to social media in the most suitable way to generate audience engagement.
Post older content to social media in a similar way as new content, taking into account current events, public holidays, and celebration days/months, all in order to drive engagement.
Encourage and moderate discussions on social media posts, guiding the conversation and preventing abuse, hate speech, or other unwanted interactions.
Requirements
You are able to commit at least 5 hours per week to this position.
Proven experience as a social media editor, content creator, community manager, or similar role.
Solid understanding of social media platforms and their algorithms, and how to generate organic reach with posts.
Ability to engage people on social media, generate discussions, and create share-worthy content.
Ability to respond to comments and engage with the audience effectively, moderating discussions and guiding conversations.
Strong sense of aesthetics and ability to create visually appealing posts.
Mindset to take initiative on your own, determine your own strategies, and set your own goals, without direct management, as this is a remote position.
Understanding of copyright laws and ethical standards in content creation.
